How does the Color System Work?

Thank you for your wise decision to join the Techno Hue team of color advisors. Techno Hue, the world's leader in computerized color analysis is dedicated to your success. You may find the following instructions helpful as you begin your journey into your new color world.

Step 1

Open up your package and remove the color reader device. It should look similar to this picture of a color reader.

Step 2

Turn your Color Reader on. There are two buttons that are of importance to the reader.
1. The on/off switch and
2. The clear button on the head of the reader that actually takes the reading. The "next" and "menu" buttons have been disabled and will not work correctly with this tool and should be ignored.

Step 3
Proper lighting is paramount to an accurate color reading and can affect the total outcome of your Signature ColorPrint^TM. Therefore you will want to make certain that you have proper light when you perform the analysis. The very best light is natural northern light, however, if you are working in a room that does not have windows or if it is evening, you can still have excellent light if you have the right kind of light bulbs. The best bulbs to have are those that equal 5000 Kelvin. If you feel you want to have a color correct light, you can pick one up rather inexpensively at most big box stores. If you don’t have light bulbs like that, don’t worry. You may just need to wait until you have natural light from the sun, or your own lighting may be just fine. Avoid analysis in direct sunlight!

To determine if your lighting is adequate, simply take the Light Indicator card. Open it up and expose the light sensitive strip to the light in the room where you will be performing the Signature ColorPrint™. If the strip comes up striped, then you will know that you do not have color correct lighting and that you should take whatever measures are necessary to correct the lighting. You will also notice that there is a light on the Color Reader. Our experience has proven that this light is not enough to compensate for poor lighting and should not be used.

Step 4

With your Color Reader turned on, place the reading lens on your cheek just below the "apple" of the cheek. Press the clear button on the head of the Color Reader. A number will appear on the Color Reader display screen. Write this number down on a sheet of paper. You will want to either write the word "skin" in front of the number or the letter "S" so that you will know whether that number belongs to the skin, the hair or the eyes. This will be important when you enter these numbers into the computer.

Step 5

Repeat the same process as listed in number 5 above, except this time you should place the reading lens on the hair near the crown of the head area.* *If you have frosted hair or highlighted hair or have colored your hair with multiple colors, select the area of your hair that is the most noticeable and gives the predominant color and take your reading from that area. If you make dramatic changes to your hair color frequently, then you may want to change your Signature ColorPrint^TM when you make those changes.

Step 6

Using the Eye Color Matching System, turn to pages 2, 3, and 4 to determine which color family most accurately represents your client's eyes.**

Step 7

Once you have determined which color family your eyes match best, find the pages in your Eye Color Matching System that match that family and select your best match from the choices in that family. Write this number (taken off of the Eye Color Matching System chip) on your sheet of paper. Place the word "Eye" or the letter "E" in front of the number.

Step 8
Now that you have completed the three step color matching process, you should have three numbers on your sheet of paper. S (for Skin), H (for Hair) and E (for Eyes). We refer to these 3 numbers as your Skin, Hair and Eye, or "SHE" values.

Step 9
Use your computer and the following steps to complete your Personalized Signature ColorPrint™

1. Visit our website.
2. From the home page click on the ’Login’ link in the upper right corner and login to the site using the user name and password provided to you when you signed up.
3. Upon successful login, enter the "SHE" values gathered from step 8 above.
4. Click on the "Get Preview" button. This will take you to a screen where you will be able to see a representation of your skin, hair and eye color. If you believe these colors are correct, click the accept button. If you feel for whatever reason they may not be your best representation, click the re-analyze button. Sometimes, if the lighting is not correct or if the reader face is not placed securely on the reading surface or if the reader face is on a large freckle, mole or other skin discoloration it will affect the color that is represented on the screen. You will most likely notice a difference between viewing actual skin, hair and eye colors and those that are represented on the computer screen. You will notice that it is not always possible to get an "exact" color match. You should, however, be able to see that the colors represented are an "overall" excellent representation of your coloring. Once you have determined this, click on the accept button and your Signature ColorPrint™ will appear.
5. Once your Signature ColorPrint™ is viewable on the screen you may choose to print it using your own printer, save it to your computer by right clicking on the "Download this Palette" link and selecting the "Save As", or download it to a PDA, cell phone, or other portable device by following the instruction found at here.

If you have taken advantage of our $49.00 offer for membership, you will be given a free Signature ColorPrint™. You may either choose to use this one as your own or you may give it to someone else. There will be a $25.00 charge for every Signature ColorPrint™ you perform after that. You may want to double that charge for your friends and co-workers to compensate for your efforts. Don't forget to share this fabulous service with your spouse, children, parents, siblings, boss, neighbors, etc. They will appreciate your caring, sharing and expertise not to mention the liberating freedom they will feel with their own unique, personalized color system. By adding a few dollars on top of the $25.00 fee you could make enough money to pay for your membership. The choice is yours. Either way, there will be a $25.00 fee that will be charged to your credit card for each Signature ColorPrint™ you perform after your initial free one. 3. Return the Reader in fourteen (14) days. If not, we need to charge you the full price of $450.00. We don’t want to, but need it back so others can use it. Don’t worry; we’ve made it easy.
